Daniel A. Dunlap

Lake County, Ohio

 

        Lake County's 30th Sheriff began his law enforcement career as a Deputy Sheriff at the Lake County Sheriff's Office on May 13, 1973.  Twenty years later he was elected as Sheriff  in January 1993.  Currently in his fourth term of Office he brings to Lake County over 35 years of experience in law enforcement.

      Sheriff Dunlap is a life-long resident of lake County; he and his wife Dorothy, reside in a Century home in Concord Township, Ohio.  They have three children; Lisa, Justin and Douglas; as well as one grandson and two granddaughters.

Ø                 FBI Academy Graduate Associate
Ø                 Developed, organized and initiated the Central Communications/Dispatch in Kirtland, Ohio  
Ø                 SWAT Team - member of first team organized in Lake County in the 1970's
Ø                 1st Certified Sheriff in Ohio for Drug and Alcohol Treatment
Ø                 Special Investigator - Lake County Prosecutor's Office
Ø                 Instructor at the Ohio Sheriff's Administrative Training School
Ø                 Instructor at the Basic Police Academy at Lakeland Community College
Ø                 Lieutenant - Road Patrol Commander / Executive Lieutenant
Ø                 Sergeant - Shift Supervisor
Ø                 Deputy Sheriff
Ø                 Attended Kent State University and S.U.N.Y. - Fredonia, and the University of Virginia
