2006 saw many
good things happen at the lake County Sheriff's Office Central Communications
Division.
Ø Sgt.
Belinda Brooks completed the Police Executive Leadership College.
Thus bringing the number of
supervisors who have completed this prestigious schooling to three in the
Central Communications Division.
Ø All
new flat screen monitors and CPU's were upgraded with new units
Ø All
eight (8) dispatch consoles were upgraded and standardized.
Ø Six
(6) new public safety dispatchers were hired, and started their nine (9) month
training.
Ø The
dispatch center became the centralized location for the distribution of all
cellular (wireless) 9-1-1 calls
for all of Lake County. The process for training personnel and bringing
the cellular carriers on line for phase
one was completed by December of 2006. Phase 2 will begin training
and should be completed by the
first quarter of 2007.
An interesting note is that our
Sheriff, Daniel Dunlap, when he was a Lieutenant under Sheriff Edwin Cunningham,
was assigned the project of developing and brining fruition the Lake County
9-1-1 system, and Centralized Dispatch Center. This was back in 1987.
The Sheriff's Office dispatch system
continues to be a leader in the field of public safety communications.
Modern equipment and a well trained staff makes the lake County Sheriff's Office
second to none in the services they provide to 19 police and fire agencies in
our County.
We look forward to providing
excellent service to all of the constituents of lake County for the Year 2007 !
