Medical Services:
 |
6,701 inmates were seen in the dispensary
this year. That is an increase of 600 visits over last year. |
 |
24 ER visits |
 |
8 inmates were admitted to the hospital. Of
those, 5 inmates had surgery that was paid for by Lake County. |
 |
26 inmates went out for doctor
consultations. These included orthopedic, obstetric and urologic
evaluations. |
Dental services:
 |
Dr. Neil Forbes has provided dental
services to the jail for eleven years. He saw 233 inmates this year. |
Psychiatric
Services:
 |
Mental health services are provided through
Neighboring Mental Health Center. Wendy Kelley was joined by Matt Kocsis to
provide the mental health evaluations of the inmates. |
 |
Laura DeHelian APRN, PhD continues to
serve as our psychiatrist. |
 |
Central Pharmacy is still being utilized to
offset the cost of psychiatric medication for long term inmates. We saved $ 38,938.35
by going through Central Pharmacy. |
Minimum Security Jail:
 |
Sick call is run every Wednesday and Sunday
at the minimum security jail. 434 inmates were seen there this year. If
necessary, inmates are returned to the max jail for evaluation by the
doctors. |
2006 Review:
 |
We have maintained our full staffing of
four nurses providing sixteen hours of coverage seven days a week.
|
 |
Nurse Webb and Nurse Lunceford attended the
Corrections Academy this year. |
 |
In August and September we provided 24 hour
a day medical care to a disabled inmate by adjusting the nurses schedules.
|
 |
An inmate that overdosed on narcotics
before admission was successfully resuscitated in booking. After his release
from the hospital, he gratefully returned to the jail to serve his sentence.
