The Detective Bureau investigates felony crimes for the Sheriff’s Office.   This dedicated group of professionals has been responsible

for prosecution and incarceration of numerous criminals in Lake County, making our County a safer place to live and work.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau presently has four employees assigned for felony investigative work.

The Detective Bureau handles an average of 60 case’s a month. The cases are generated from criminal activity in the Townships, Villages and Cities within Lake County.

CREDIT THEFT WARNING

Residents should secure vehicles/garages and never leave wallets or purses inside vehicles. 

When residents have any items listed above stolen they should take two steps.

1. Report the theft to Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
2. Monitor credit cards, and your personal credit. The use of resident’s social security numbers for obtaining credit cards, loans and similar purchases has increased. Criminals may use your personal information on the Internet and destroy your credit.
