SPECIAL WEAPONS AND TACTICS

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team is elieve in their mission, and are willing to work hard to achieve it.  

Employing sophisticated equipment and a rigorous training schedule, the Sheriff’s SWAT unit supports law enforcement agencies county wide in the area of special operations.  Although the team may be activated for a variety of reasons, its main function is saving lives in critical situations such as hostage-taking, barricaded gunmen, high-risk warrant service and dignitary protection.  The Sheriff’s SWAT team, one of the first in the State, was formed in the mid “70’s”.  The team trains monthly with members being specialized in various disciplines including negotiation techniques, police long-rifle shooting, less-than-lethal weaponry, chemical agent delivery and Tactical Paramedic training.
